Google, MSN, & Yahoo are "Title" Junkyards. When a search is made, the results specifically focus and highlight the TITLES leaving the little black text that defines the website to be insignificant. TITLES are what talk to people - so TITLES are what we focus on. Important Note: Search Engines determine the popularity of a website by the amount of 3rd party websites that are "back linking" and discussing your website. By posting your message with a url backlink to hundreds of thousands of forums, blogs and message boards - you can organically watch your SEO success improve almost immediately. Example of bad forum/blog Title: Lets say that you write a great post about a tooth ache. Lets say your a dentist who wants to promote his website. Your opening post Title is a question "How much pain does it take?". "How much pain does it take" as a Title doesn't have anything to do with doctors or dentists. In short, this is a BAD EXAMPLE of SEO and should never be used to promote a website. Pay Attention --> The key to making a strong title is making sure that the title not only talks to the potential web visitor, but also talks directly to the search engine and clearly defines the content of the actual post to assist the major search engines in properly categorizing your post. If you use TITLE keywords such as DENTIST, TEETH, ROOT CANAL, etc., in a TITLE, then your TITLE will not only talk to potential web visitors, but also tell search engines how to properly categorize your website. The proper way to format website pages, forum & blog posts, etc., is to ensure that the TITLES all include strong keywords. There are a couple of simple rules. General SEO "TITLE" Rules: For example, a dentist shouldn't waste valuable Title space to make a question, rather should use all keywords in the title: Notice the words in both titles are all keywords, and notice that the second title even compares yoursite.com with Dentist.com. It is very important to associate (in the title & post) your site with other high ranking sites that have already been associated and categorized by search engines to be relative to the keywords you desire. Most websites are relative to several different types of keywords. The key to SEO is emphasizing to the search engines the specific keywords/keyword phrases that you want your online activity to be related to - so that the major search engines know which categories best fit your website. If your website has been categorized by Google to be a MP3 Search Enigne, then you can be sure that even if there are a million mp3 songs that discuss "womens flowers", you wont be found for "womens flower" related keywords. Erased Forum Posts: Once Google gives you "credit" by listing your title in their search engine, it really doesnt matter if the actual forum thread is erased because you've already received "backlink credit". SEO is about receiving published credit. In many cases, Google will spider and publish a post that has already been deleted off the general forum board. Google doesn't know the thread has actually been erased off the forum because the data wasn't extracted off of the website's general forum, rather the message was extracted via Google spidering the XML/RSS and/or Cache. So Google doesn't even know that the actual publication no longer appears on the general forums.
